Sociedade Brasileira de Análise Bioenergética
The clinical board of the Brazilian Society of Bioenergetic Analysis (SOBAB) is responsible for the coordination of its social clinic, which aims at offering affordable psychotherapy for the Brazilian middle class and lower-income brackets. This clinic differs from their counterparts in the rest of Brazil in the sense that is not simply a training clinic providing year 3-4 candidates with the supervised practice they need.
Over the last few years, we have seen a significant increase in the demand for individual therapy making it difficult to provide psychotherapy to all clients that reach us.
- In 2021, to cater for this demand, the clinic gradually shifted its goal towards group therapy.
- In 2022, we faced the challenge of helping 14 therapists make the transition from individual to group work.
With the help of the IIBA Project Fund 2022, we were able to provide a seven-month training and supervision program for 14 participants. The program was coordinated by Jayme Panerai Alves and Grace Wanderley and ran from June to December 2022 with monthly meetings scheduled for Fridays (3 hours each) and further support provided via Google Classroom.
We are also happy to inform that we are beginning 2023 with 4 new groups, totalling 7 groups. Maria do Rosário Rosa started co-facilitating a group with Guilherme Pacheco in January, 2023. Guilherme Mazzei will start doing the same as of February, 2023. Other participants will follow suit.
