Annual Meeting and Luncheon: Celebrating Achievements and New Beginnings

On February 16, members of the SCIBA community gathered for our annual meeting and luncheon, a heartwarming occasion that brought together 20 dedicated individuals. While some members could not attend due to distance or prior commitments, the presence of Bob and Virginia Hilton was a delightful highlight.

This year’s gathering was particularly special as we celebrated several significant accomplishments:

  • Homayoun Shahri has been appointed as a local trainer for SCIBA, marking an important step in our commitment to fostering local leadership and expertise.
  • We honored Laura Markgraf and Tina Harney, who became Certified Bioenergetic Therapists (CBTs) in 2023. This was our first opportunity to recognize their achievements together, and we are proud to have them in our community.
  • Anat Sideman joined the CBT ranks this February, further strengthening our team of skilled professionals.
  • Additionally, we celebrated the recent graduation of Amanda Stransky and Vicky Venterfrom the academic portion of the certification program. They are continuing with their supervision and therapy requirements heading toward certification.
  • In addition, we welcomed seven new trainees who began their journey with us in January 2025: Sara Afsharpour, Olivia Campana, Lindsey Doering, Michelle English, Sheri Sabrdaran, Neda Tahami, and Mason Uemura. We also have two fourth-year trainees, Maring Higa and Andrea Vaz Antunes, who continue to contribute to our institute.

As we celebrate these milestones, we also take a moment to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Jan Parker, who has volunteered in various roles with SCIBA since 1992. Jan will be stepping down as our executive director in March 2025, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her dedication and leadership. We are excited to announce that Garet Bedrosian will be our new executive director once again, bringing her skills and energy to guide our future initiatives.

The SCIBA community is poised for continued growth and success, and we look forward to the opportunities ahead. Together, we strive to make a positive impact in our field and support each other in our professional journeys.
