The Uniqueness of Bioenergetic Analysis: Synthesizing Psychoanalytic and Contemporary Perspectives in the Embodied Practice.
Embodiment in the theory and practice of bioenergetic analysis represents the principle of synonymity of somatic, psychic, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of experience. All of these dimensions are part of the experiential realm. Understanding how experience arises from psychic, somatic, emotional, and spiritual sources is central to the theme of this conference. How damage to body, soul, and psyche manifest in experience and what can heal that damage will be investigated in depth.
Some of the questions to be examined are:
- the place of abreaction in the healing process;
- the purpose of technique - insight, attitude, and behavior change;
- the role of the person of the psychotherapist in the therapeutic relationship.
We will explore these questions using the lens of contemporary theory and practice in bioenergetic analysis and other approaches to psychotherapy practice.
We are thrilled to announce that we have secured three distinguished keynote speakers for our upcoming 27th IIBA International Conference: Nancy McWilliams, Paul Wachtel, and Sue Grand. Each of these esteemed presenters will engage in a unique dialogue with one of our own members, offering a rich and dynamic exchange of ideas.
Nancy McWilliams
Nancy McWilliams, Ph.D., ABPP., will discuss current issues in psychoanalytic theory and practice, relating these to contemporary theory and practice in Bioenergetic Analysis.
Paul Wachtel
Paul Wachtel, Ph.D., will explore the synthesis of different technical modalities in psychotherapy practice, expanding the discussion to include somatopsychic methods and techniques.
Sue Grand
Sue Grand, Ph.D, will delve into the analytic understanding of the manifestations of evil and malevolence, examining these themes from the perspective of changes in somatopsychic life.
These dialogues promise to bring new insights and ideas that you can put into practice, enriching your professional work and understanding. We believe these dialogues will be both intellectually stimulating and profoundly engaging. Don't miss this opportunity to witness these thought-provoking discussions.
